More Hardball wants to know who has the hottest fans in baseball. We'll be running a set of posts over the following weeks featuring images of each teams' hotties, with a voting poll to crown a champion. We've crowned champs of the AL East (BoSox), Central (ChiSox), West (Angels), and AL Wild Card (A's) already, and we're now moving on to the National League. Last week the Phillies won the NL East and now it's time to move on to the NL Central. Sticking true to Major League Baseball's roots, there will be an eight team playoff system where the winners of each division square off with the addition of a wild card team to determine who wins the pennant and represents each league in the World Series of Hotness.

Give it a plug if you like it, and as always we'll be repaying you in our weekly link dump, thanks.

[...] Who is going to be the Cardinals 2009 closer? There are a few different options going into spring training. Chris Perez, Jason Motte, and Ryan Franklin are looking like the most likely candidates. I think we experienced Franklin closing too much last season and the bullpen is going to be in trouble if this is the final outcome. Jason Motte just doesn’t have the second pitch needed to succeed. Major league hitters are going to catch up to Motte’s heat, so if he doesn’t develop a second pitch, he’s not going to be a productive major league pitcher. That leaves Perez, who is my choice for winning the job. Perez has been doing the job since pitching at Miami. Perez has two quality pitches to work with and gained valuable experience partially closing out games in 2008. The big club will break for St. Louis with Chris Perez as their closer.
Oh give me a effing break! The Padres are getting away with paying Eckstein only $850K this year to play 2b for them while the Cards would rather take their chances with some klutz who has no clue how to play 2b. The Cards just keep making more and more cheap ass moves like this to the point of embarrassment. It would be nice if somebody showed Mo the door already.

yes, ponson...it's that bad. I'm still holding out hope for ben sheets; maybe a two year deal for 20-25 million or so with an option for a third year. one can still hope, or mo can trade from the plethora of outfielders and get himself a decent young starter with some potential.

Ponson??? Wow, you really are frustrated. :)

My vote is Pettitte.

Maybe once ST comes around and we find out if Carp's going to be healthy (or not), then they'll make some more moves. I've resigned myself to the fact that nothing else is going to happen before then.

I'm shocked as well. I was sure they'd offer to Looper, just to have that pick when he did in fact sign somewhere else. Moze must not feel like there's a serious enough market for him. Seems like he's sure to get some interest, though. Wonder what that's all about.
