Jimmy Drama Debuts

March 26, 2007

jimmy drama

jimmy edmonds finally got some playing time in a spring training game. yep, the centerfielder played three innings in yesterday’s game against the baltimore orioles.

he had two at bats, he walked and grounded out to the first baseman. good to see jimmy back on the diamond again, he has not had an at bat since game 5 of the world series.

he only batted second in the lineup and only got two at bats though, apparently this was planned though. tlr said that he hit edmonds 2nd to get his at bats quicker so he can come out of the game.

this was done to see if edmonds gets sour or has a setback, if he does not, he probably will play the next game. so, he is set to play in today’s game against the florida marlins (probably a limited amount of innings and at bats as well).

so, if jimmy’s recovery goes without a hitch, he should be in the lineup against the mets on opening day, april 1st (which is only six days away by the way).

oh, the cardinals did play a game yesteday as well. as i mentioned earlier, they went against the O’s.

reyes was not very sharp, going four innings and giving up five runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out two. his spring training era rose up to 2.70, that shows you how good he has been this spring.

chris perez, the cards flame throwing future closer, made his debut in big league s.t. by pitching one inning of flawless ball, three up and three down. sillman pitched a scoreless inning and franklin pitched two scoreless innings. springer also pitched an inning and allowed the game winning run to score on two hits.

the offense was pretty much duncan, spezio and bennett. they collected all the cards hits. duncan had one, bennett had a double and two singles and speezer had two doubles. so, at the end, the cards fell to the O’s, 6-5.
