Wainwright dominates fish
adam wainwright was on his game yesterday, i mean he was spectacular. i know, its spring training, take it with a grain of salt, blah blah blah….
I’m getting getting very excited and the season is only five days away and to me, the pitchers are pitching like they would in the regular season, going at least 5-6 innings and using their best stuff.
also, most hitters are up to speed now and its as competitive as it can get in s.t. without the games meaning anything.
so, about adam. he pitched six phenomenal innings, giving up four hits with on runs and no walks and he also struck out six. the best start by a cardinal hurler thus far in the spring.
izzy pitched an inning not allowing a run or a walk and giving up three hits. johnson pitched a one, two, three inning with no problems. jimenez pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing a couple of walks and a run to score. thompson came in and got the save pitching 2/3 of an inning.
the offense was better than what it has been lately, putting up three runs on the board. rolen and eckstien both collected rbis and both doubled. kennedy had two hits and bennett and schumaker each had one. bennett has really been swinging a hot bat lately. also, its nice to see kennedy get a couple of hits because he has not been hitting this spring and it shows. even after those hits, his batting average is up to a measily .189. spezio drew three walks and scored a run. so, the cards beat the marlins, 3-1.
