Bring on the Beermen

April 13, 2007

the brew crew is coming to town

the cards are back on their home turf, busch staduim and are ready to do it right this time (hopefully).

i guess all the celebrations and the basking in the glory of last year really got into the boys’ heads because when they went on the road they were sharp defensively and there were no mental gaps.

lets pretend the mets series never happened a consider this the home opener, by this i mean the game tonight versus one of the up and coming teams in the nl, the brew crew.

the brew crew carry an old friend with them, one of the guys that helped bring the STL its first championship in 24 years, and he is none other than mr. jeff suppan.

i’m happy for jeff because he won a ring last year and now he is making the big bucks, what more can you ask for. during his tenure as a cardinal (the past three seasons), he was nothing but clutch and i believe overachieved under the tutelage of dave duncan.

both teams are “tied for 1st” in the nl central with a record of 5-4 (its a three was tie with cincy) and one of the teams is going to come out of this series ahead of the other in the standings.

i know its mid april, but a win in april counts just as much as a win in late september.

so, lets get it on! here comes your pitching matchups for this series:

friday- anthony reyes vs. ben sheets (7:10 c.t., fsn midwest)

saturday- kip wells vs. chris capuano (12:10 c.t., fsn midwest)

sunday- braden looper vs. jeff suppan (1:15 c.t., ksdk/ch.5)

this team needs to win their first series at home, so lets go out there and win 2 out of three at least. have a nice weekend and enjoy the games.
