so, i got a day off of work today for some doctor’s appointments and some errands and i thought to my self, “hey, why not update that blog of yours?”

viola, here i am to update it and to let the couple of readers of this thing know that im not dead.

  • one, slick rick is back in the bigs and with a bang. he has played in 4 straight games and have three homers and has hit the ball fairly well. i dont expect that to continue, but if he can give this team consistent good play in right field then i think he is the cards regular right fielder next season.
  • now, instant breakfast; aka juan E, it has started between him and la russa and it will not stop. juan will be gone probably this offseason since he called out la russa. end of story.
  • my favorite player, jimmy edmonds, has been on fire lately. he went 4 for 6 last night with a double and three rbis. nice to see that average climb up to .254 and .410 for the month of august. now, i just want to see consistant play from him and some homers.
  • the starting pitching has been great the last two times around the rotation, but i dont expect that to continue. even if the kipster has figured something out, its too late and i hope he is not back next season. wainwright needs to be more consistent and he has been better as of late. the rainman, reyes has been pretty good too. i just dont get why la russa keeps pulling him after 6 innings and he has about 90 pitches under his belt. he needs to let him got out there and throw another inning, especially the last game win he has an 8 run lead.

now, to the pitching matchups:

tonight;  joel pineiro  RHP (2-2, 4.50) vs.  yovani gallardo RHP (4-2, 4.20)

thursday; adam “wagonmaker” wainwright RHP (10-9, 4.21) vs. dave bush RHP (9-8, 5.07)

friday; braden looper RHP (10-9, 5.08) vs. rich hill LHP (6-7, 3.85)

saturday; anthony “the rainman” reyes RHP (2-11, 5.48) vs. sean marshall LHP (5-6, 4.25)

sunday; probably the kipster vs. big Z

there you have it! the cards are still in this thing. i cant believe they are only 4.5 games behind the brew crew and 3 behind the cubbies. this division is that bad people. personally, i still think this is just a tease and i wont believe it until the cards are in first place or tied for first place in this comedy central.

stay cool ’cause its real hot in south city of the stl!

What has gotten into Jimmy Edmonds lately? He is tearing the cover off the ball! In any case, I hope it continues. It seems like it just may be starting to rub off on some of the other guys as well. The last two games, Scotty Rolen appears to be getting into a groove as well.
