still alive…

November 14, 2007

so, uhh…..yeah. im still alive, barely. been out cold for the last couple of weeks. nothing much going on.

just waiting for the hot stove league to get fired up. not much else to write about.

the cubs have started quickly though. all be it minor deals, but they are trying to do something.

they dealt jacque jones to detroit for an infielder and craig monroe to the twins for something (ptnl or $$, im not really sure). it seems like they are trying to free up some outfield spots for something.

maybe they want to do something big, trade for a big bat or sign a big bat (rowand, jones, hunter; i dont know). they have the money to do it.

look, they spent like 300 million last offseason and they only won what, eight games more than the cards. they realize this division was bad, but i think milwaukee is going to be really good next season (depending on who is closing for them).

that reminds me, dempster is moving to the rotation, so who is coming out? old friend bipolar bettie? i would have to say yes. who is going to close for the cubs? dont know, lets see what they will do.

so, not much on the cards front. havent been blogging lately because early last week i came down with a really nastly upper respiratory viral infection. 105 degree fever and strong weezing cough and a running nose knocked me out for a week. now, i have a strong weezing cough and breathing issues. my voice is almost gone. must be flu season. the weird thing is i had my flu shot about three weeks ago.

damn it! i should have never gotten that shot. last year, i didnt get one and did not get anything more than minor coughs/colds. wtf? im already planning ahead and wont get one next year (if i survive this thing).

alright, have a good rest of the week. maybe the cards will make a move before thanksgiving that leads us to give thanks; lets hope so.

Hope your health improves quickly! I’m not allowed to have a flu shot anymore, but I wouldn’t be taking them even if I could.

The Cubs–well, I’m not sure what they are doing. I’m sure they are trying to position for a big time player, but I don’t know if they’ll be successful.

I have gotten a flu shot for several years. As a High School teacher I find it imperative. Always seems to work for me. Am I ready for some baseball.
