Cards pick Barton in Rule 5 draft

December 6, 2007

Brian Barton

the cardinals selected brian barton in the rule five draft today. he has been a highly regarded outfield prospect for the cleveland indians.

going into the rule 5 draft, he was considered one of the best choices of the players available. here is a list of the best players  available and some general info.

he has had knee problems which were a major concern for the indians but he hits for a great average, good power and pretty good on base percentage. somehow, he fell to the cards and they took him. im not the guy to ask about the minor leagues, so head over to future redbirds to find out more as im sure that they got it covered there.

also, he plays all three outfield positions and is primarily a centerfielder; also a right handed bat. lets see if he can hit big league pitching and stick with this team. if hector luna could do it, i think this guy can too.
