Double-header Day

June 5, 2008

the cardinals game against the nationals yesterday did not go as planned. in fact, it did not even start due to massive amounts of rain. so, it was postponed until today, at noon.

so, the cards will play their first double header of the season against the nationals at nationals park.

first game will be in about an hour and a half, a little past noon. the pitching matchups will not change. game one at noon will feature the surprisingly good wellemeyer vs. the surprisingly good soft tossing lefty, john lannan.

then, at 6:10 p.m., it will be the rookie parisi making his second major league start (I still don’t understand why they did not call up reyes for this one) against the former astro tim redding.

also, the draft will happen today at 2 ET, so thats 1 central time. the cardinals will have the 13th pick in the first round. for all your draft coverage needs, check out the best site for cardinals minor league info and draft analysis, Future Redbirds.

at 1 ET, that’s 12 central time, there will be a ceremonial Negro league draft in which every team will select a living negro leaguer. the cardinals will be taking “Prince” Joe Henry, on of the biggest showman of his time.

that is all for now, enjoy the double header and the draft; I know I will be tuned in to both, plus VEB and FR for some great info and comments.

My company does video news stories on great people with awesome attitudes — they don’t get much better than some of the Negro League players who broke barriers in baseball!

You can see a video we did at MLB’s recent symbolic draft of Negro League players, which includes Millito Navarro, Peanut Johnson, Charley Pride and Bill Blair as well as Ken Griffey and Dave Winfield.

    I hope you enjoy it!
